Sustainability - SUNDLINGS

Environmental management system – Sundlings Sweden AB

Sundlings Sweden AB strives to manage its business activities in an environmentally sustainable way where products, processes and services are to be designed to use energy, natural resources and raw materials as efficiently as possible and to minimise the amount of waste and residual products. We comply with the environmental legislation and other requirements pertaining to our business in the countries in which we are active. Sundlings works regularly to identify and follow up on environmental aspects that are relevant to our operations.

Energy consumption

We work with continuous improvements for reducing our energy consumption.

Examples of implemented improvements:

  •  We recycle the heat generated in manufacturing to heat our warehouse.
  •  We have exchanged our flourescent lighting with LED presence lighting in our warehouse and manufacturing resulting in a 94% reduction in electricity consumption that corresponds to a reduction of 7 tons of CO2/year.

We work continuously to streamline and optimise our shipments, taking responsibility for the entire route from supplier to customer.

Examples of implemented improvements:

  • We have installed a sunflower oil tank to optimise the number of shipments and to minimise the use of platics.
  • We have run a project with customers to improve their ordering thus optimising shipments and reducing CO2 emissions. We found an improvement in the form of a 15-20% reduction in CO2 emissions.
  • We collaborate closely with PostNord who work actively to reduce their emissions by using electric vehicles, green electricity and bio fuels.
  • We have minimised our climate impact and currently (2019) utilise 4.2 tonnes less plastic, corresponding to a reduction of 12 tonnes of CO2 emissions. This is thanks to:
    • Selecting the right form of shipment and carrier.
    • Optimising our packaging.
    • Maximising our procurements.
    • Optimising shipment of customer orders.

Waste management

We collaborate with Stena Recycling for all our waste management and we recycle a great number of fractions, including metal, oil, wood, plastic and corrugated cardboard. We also sort and manage our hazardous waste through Stena Recycling.

We annually measure and follow up our waste quantities and continuously evaluate how we can reduce our climate imact by consciously choosing raw materials and packaging solutions, from a life-cycle perspective.

Examples of implemented improvements:

  •  Installed a grease separator with a level alarm in manufacturing. The grease separator is emptied according to a developed routine.
  •  Improved process for sorting waste.

Chemical management

We have established a chemicals list and store all chemicals in specially designed, appropriately dimensioned pallet racks.
